Happy Bath Soaks

There is nothing like a long soak to melt away stress after a busy day. A good bath can relax your muscles, clear your mind, and even uplift your mood — especially when you make your own bath blend using simple, skin-loving ingredients.

While store-bought bath salts can be luxurious, homemade versions give you control over what goes on your skin. What’s more, crafting your own blend lets you personalize it for your mood or skin needs: calming lavender for sleep, zesty citrus for energy, or cooling peppermint for a post-workout soak.

Here is how you can create your own Happy Bath Soaks at home:

Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine Epsom salts, baking soda, and citric acid. Stir until evenly blended. Add mica powder and mix again until the color is evenly distributed.

Prepare the Wet Mix

In a separate small bowl, combine castile soap, sweet almond oil, and your chosen essential oils. Stir gently to mix.

Combine Wet and Dry

Slowly drizzle the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring constantly. Add just enough to lightly moisten the mixture — you don’t want it too wet, or it may start to fizz prematurely.

Set and Dry

Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and spread the mixture evenly across the surface. Allow it to sit and air dry for several hours or overnight, until completely hardened.

Break and Store

Once dry, break the hardened soak mixture into chunky pieces. Store them in an airtight jar or container.

To Use

Drop a few pieces into warm bath water and watch them gently fizz as they release skin-loving oils and uplifting scents.

What You Will Need:

  • 1 cup Epsom
  • ¼ cup Sodium Bicarbonate
  • ¼ Citric Acid
  • 1/8 Liquid Castile Soap
  • 1 tbsp Sweet Almond Oil
  • 1 tsp Mica Powder
  • 5 drops Orange Essential Oil
  • 5 drops Lavender Essential Oil

Tips: For an extra touch, mix different mica colors for a marbled look — or make small batches in different scents for a mini “spa bar” experience at home.
