Halloween Smelly Jelly Hand Soap

Halloween Jelly soap banner

We love jams, jellies and all things festive! This Halloween, we are attempting a DIY Lush alike jelly soap. Both kids and adults wouldn’t mind a jelly experience while washing their hands and bodies. It is an easy and fun gift idea for anyone. Be prepared for a squishy washing experience this October!

In this tutorial, we are using Stephenson’s Jelly Soap Base, you can either use the double boiler or microwave method. Jelly is really easy to work with, it is similar to melt and pour though you might need to watch the amount of air bubbles that will form on the jelly soap. If you spot air bubbles, give it a spritz of Isopropyl Alcohol into the jelly soap to remove it quickly.

For microwave method, we suggest putting it in a Pyrex container or wide surface flat bowl then set microwave on HIGH at a 10-40 seconds interval. Remember to put a lid on it (this method creates a little more bubbles in the soap but it is much faster).

For double boiler, remember to cover the bowl while boiling as it will take a much longer time for it to melt (this method creates lesser bubbles in the soap but it is much slower).

Once melted, slowly stir (extremely slow) in your preferred essential oils and colorants. If bubbles form, again spritz some Isopropyl Alcohol in. In this Halloween soap, we don’t mind it looking a little bubbly as we are using the skulls and bones mold, and bones do look a little porous to us, don’t they?

Allow an hour or so for it to cool down as it could be really soft and might break if you pull it out too quickly from the mold. Once ready, get any jars to store your squishy jelly soaps. Give a spooky name to your label and there you have it!

What You Will Need:

Notes:

  • Jelly can be viscous and sticky once it is melted, pour quickly into your mold before it hardens and take caution while working with it as it might burn the skin once it sticks onto your skin.
  • Fragrance and colorant are optional, do remember to wear gloves when you are using them.
