Polysorbate 80

Polysorbate 80, also known as Tween 80, is a synthetic compound derived from Polyethoxylated Sorbitan and Oleic Acid. It is very often used in cosmetic products as a surfactant and emulsifier due to its viscous and water-soluble nature. With its ability to help other ingredients dissolve in a solvent, Polysorbate 80 helps to reduce surface tension of substance that needs emulsification. It is commonly found in a variety of formulas for skin care products, makeup bases and foundation, shampoos and fragrance powders.
