Propylene Glycol is a small organic alcohol commonly used as a skin-conditioning agent. It is found in many products such as shampoo and conditioner due to its low-cost and versatile nature. Consumers are usually alarmed by the term anti-freeze, however it is simply a scientific term used to describe the lowering or depression of the freezing point of a liquid.

Propylene Glycol is in fact safe at low concentrations when used in personal care and even food products. It is usually used as a humectant, emulsifier, or surfactant, and is commonly found in deodorants, disinfecting gels, and shaving creams.
